Westar Marine Services offers a wide range of specialty barge services across San Francisco Bay, supporting industries from construction and entertainment to shipping and environmental management. Aggregate Transportation
Westar’s rock barges are capable of transporting up to 6,200 short tons of sand, rock, gypsum, or other bulk materials. These barges are ideal for lightering ships at anchor or for hauling aggregate between terminals across the Bay.
Fresh Water Delivery
Our fresh water barges deliver up to 300 tons of clean water per trip. Water is loaded at our Pier 50 facility and towed directly to vessels for offloading, supporting ships in need of clean water without docking.
Alcatraz Barge Service
Westar provides monthly barge service to Alcatraz Island for the National Park Service and supports additional deliveries for construction, film production, catering, and event services. Our crews are experienced in navigating the island’s unique logistics and scheduling needs.
Fireworks Barges
As the only Coast Guard-approved fireworks loading facility on San Francisco Bay, Westar is the trusted provider of fireworks barge services for holiday shows, private events, and citywide celebrations. Our barge fleet offers multiple platform sizes to meet diverse pyrotechnic requirements.
Barge Chartering
We offer flat deck barges for short- and long-term charter, complete with tug delivery and redelivery service. Our flexible chartering options allow customers to efficiently manage material transport, storage, or floating project needs.
Garbage & Waste Removal Barges
Westar offers garbage barge services to remove general waste and hazardous materials from ships at anchor. All waste is handled in compliance with federal and local regulations. We also provide barge transfer of containerized waste and recyclables between terminals throughout the Bay.
