This November, something truly unexpected appeared along the San Francisco waterfront - a floating soccer field, stationed just off the Embarcadero in celebration of the 2025 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Championship.
Westar Marine Services was proud to be the marine logistics partner for this headline-making installation, delivering the barge platform and on-the-water support that brought this floating pitch to life.
Soccer on the Bay: A First of Its Kind Waterfront Activation
In the lead-up to the championship match, the NWSL hosted a weeklong series of fan events on the floating pitch, an immersive experience that connected fans, players, and partners with the energy of the game in a uniquely San Francisco setting.
With the city skyline in the background and crowds gathered along the waterfront, the barge-mounted field stood as a bold visual celebration of the growing power of women’s sports.
